I can tell you without a doubt; tears can morph into massive meltdowns as the school years go by.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 32px; color: #3366ff;\"><strong>That homework task that you thought was easy can cause &#8216;World War 3&#8217; and it\u2019s not pretty.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 200%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 32px; color: #3366ff;\"><strong>In fact it\u2019s really stressful.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-top:10px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/afro-anger-angry-783941-1024x697.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-11349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/afro-anger-angry-783941-1024x697.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/afro-anger-angry-783941-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/afro-anger-angry-783941-768x523.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/afro-anger-angry-783941-150x102.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial;\">When I was developing the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/webinar\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Speech to Spelling Code\u2122<\/a><\/strong>, homework was a topic that generated much anxiety for kids with school learning difficulties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial;\">They hate it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial;\">So we have provided plenty of strategies and techniques to help them to deal with it successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-top: 10px; line-height: 25px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 180%; font-family: Arial;\"><strong>Here are 4 tips to help lighten the homework load and restore peace and harmony in your home.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 30px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 10px;\">Let them have a break first; eat, drink, exercise and chill out before they begin.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 30px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 10px;\">If they\u2019re easily distracted use a timer and give them set times to complete their homework and take breaks.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 30px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 10px;\">Chewing gum, drinking water, using noise cancelling headphones or listening to music; are all proven ways to help students stay focused.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial; line-height: 30px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 10px;\">Make sure your child sticks to the recommended hours spent doing homework, whether they finish it or not. Kids with LD should not spend hours completing homework that may take another student just one hour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-top: 10px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial;\">Homework should be a reflection of what your child is learning at school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/child-girl-homework-1001675-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-11356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/child-girl-homework-1001675-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/child-girl-homework-1001675-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/child-girl-homework-1001675-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dyslexiadaily.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/child-girl-homework-1001675-1-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 160%; font-family: Arial;\">So remember, your child should never come home and have no idea what they\u2019re supposed to do. If that\u2019s the case let their teacher know.
