At some point you have to accept that your child needs technology to advance their learning.<\/p>\n

A necessary evil?<\/p>\n

If used irresponsibly, it can have negative effects, but\u2026
\n\u2026for learning, it needs to be embraced.<\/p>\n

Reading, spelling and writing are vital areas where the \u201cright\u201d technology can help a child’s\u00a0school development.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Their school results should be a reflection of what they know, not how well they can read, write and spell.<\/p>\n

\"ipad-1126136_1920\"Technology is everywhere. It is used by students and business executives every day.<\/p>\n

Not just to assist with literacy skills, but to speed up work rates.<\/p>\n

Why spend hours typing an essay when you can speak it and your computer will type it for you?<\/p>\n

Why spend hours slowly and accurately decoding text to read a class novel when your ebook reader can read it to you?<\/p>\n

The truth is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

  3. \u2018Speech to text\u2019<\/strong> allows your computer to transfer your spoken voice to written text on your computer screen.\u00a0For example on the latest Mac computers there is a feature where you can just push the \u2018fn\u2019 (function) key and start\u00a0talking and it will automatically type your\u00a0words for you.<\/li>\n
  4. \"lscribe2\"Digital pens<\/strong> like \u2018Livescribe\u2019<\/strong>, allow for selective note taking on electronic paper whilst recording an audio at the same time, which can be played back later on.<\/li>\n
  5. Mobile phones and tablets<\/strong> enable a
    \nvisual and audio record of schoolwork for future reference.
    \nAnd that\u2019s just the tip of the iceberg\u2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There are also thousands of fantastic apps.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Technology is here to stay and it will become more widely used by everyone.<\/p>\n
